What does a driver do?
As a driver, you usually work for a logistics company or a driver company. Sometimes you work directly for a company, but it can also be that a company hires drivers externally. Think of companies like Bidfood and Rova.
Logistics companies often deliver products to various companies or retailers in the country. Think of medicines for pharmacies, pet food and plants for garden centers, or food and drinks for the hospitality industry. The products are usually collected during the day by order pickers who gather and prepare all customer orders. As a driver, you then deliver the orders to the customers at night. As a driver, you are often the last part of the logistics process.
How your day as a driver looks varies per company. At some companies, you work mainly at night or just during the day, but it can also be that you start very early in the morning and your shift ends at the beginning of the afternoon. This depends on how far you have to travel, how many companies you visit in one trip, and what the further logistics process looks like at the company you work for.
