Cookie Statement
This cookie statement, together with our terms of use and privacy policy, provides you with information about the cookies and other similar technologies used by the Timing online platform. We review this policy from time to time to ensure it remains up-to-date. If we make changes, we will post the latest version here. This cookie statement applies to Timing.nl and the Timing app on iOS and Android.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies when you use our services. These are managed directly by us or by third parties acting on our behalf. We use cookies and similar technologies when they are essential to deliver our services, to improve your experience through analysis and optimization, and to deliver personalized advertisements. Below you will find more information on how to manage cookies and similar techniques.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device via your web browser at the request of the websites you visit or apps you use, and it stores information on your device for a limited time. Some cookies are necessary, but not all. For example, cookies ensure that your settings and preferences are remembered, such as your preference to store or not store cookies. Thanks to cookies, we can also analyze your online behavior on our website. We use these analyses to improve our websites. There are also cookies that make the website more personal, so that the content and information on Timing.nl are tailored to your preferences.
Some of the cookies we use are deleted once you leave our site or app, as we do not need to retain this information until your next visit. These are called 'session' cookies. On the other hand, 'permanent' cookies allow our services or tags to recognize you when you visit us again. They automatically expire when they reach a certain expiration date, unless you delete them earlier. Permanent cookies placed by Skyscanner on your device are never kept for more than two years from the date of your last visit. There are tools available to check the expiration date of cookies. This functionality may be provided by your browser.
We also use similar technologies, such as "tags," "tracking pixels," "code snippets," "tracking URLs," "local storage," and "scripts" on our website, as well as "software development kits (SDKs)" and "device IDs" in our apps. These technologies are implemented in our services and can be used in combination with text cookies to store or transmit information to and from the device you use to access Timing. In this policy, all these app and web technologies are collectively referred to as "Cookies and Similar Technologies."
Who manages these cookies and similar technologies?
The cookies and similar technologies in our services are managed directly by us or by third parties acting on our behalf. There are also some cookies and similar technologies that we have implemented for advertising purposes and are managed by independent third parties. You can find more information about these third parties and how to opt out of their cookies and similar technologies in the section 'Which cookies and similar technologies do we use and how can I opt out?'.
We may add, remove, or update cookies and similar technologies that we use on our services from time to time. You can view the main cookies and similar technologies we use as of the date of this policy under 'cookie list'.
Personal Data
When placing and reading cookies, your personal data is processed. See our Privacy Statement for a comprehensive overview of how we handle your personal data.
Cookie Consent Categories
Timing places cookies and similar techniques for four different data processing activities; functional, analytical (anonymous), analytical (personal), and marketing and social media purposes. You can determine which cookies are placed yourself. With the cookie manager, you can adjust the cookie settings per cookie type on Timing.nl at any time.
There are 4 settings:
1. Necessary & Functional cookies;
2. Analytical cookies;
3. Profile cookies;
4. Marketing/Social media cookies;
1. Necessary & Functional cookies
Timing.nl uses functional cookies to ensure that the website and app work properly and are able to offer you their online services. These cookies are used, for example, to store your cookie preferences, detect security or fraud incidents, or enable you to log in. Due to the functional nature of the cookies, they may be placed without consent. Check our cookie list to see which cookies are placed.
2. Analytical cookies (non-personal)
Timing.nl uses analytical cookies to measure website usage and improve our website performance in a non-personal way. Through non-personal analytical cookies, we analyze how you use our website and what we can change to improve your experience. The collected analytical data provides insight into the use of the Timing online platform. It measures, for example, which pages are viewed and which elements are clicked on, and is not linked to a user. We use third-party software to analyze this data, such as Google Analytics or Hotjar. We have configured these tools in a privacy-friendly manner. For these tools, the collected data are aggregated statistics and limited in their ability to track and identify you as an individual. Such data points include technical characteristics, such as the browser you use (Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox), which device you use (mobile, desktop, or tablet), when the website is visited, which pages are visited, and whether functionalities on the Timing online platform are used, i.e., the application flow and filtering.
3. Profile cookies
Timing.nl also uses profile cookies to tailor the Timing online platform to your personal preferences. We use your accumulated interest and profile (based on your browsing behavior on Timing.nl) to show you relevant vacancies and/or profiles and tips on the Timing online platform. These cookies are also used to conduct tests to optimize and improve your online experience with us. To do this effectively, we need your personal data, such as user ID, IP addresses, cookie ID, etc., to remember your preferences and interests with these cookies. In this way, we tailor the content specifically to your interests and needs. Based on your browsing behavior, we can, for example, personalize your experience and show vacancies that we think better suit you and that you previously showed interest in.
4. Marketing/Social media cookies
Timing.nl uses marketing and social media cookies to improve, personalize, and analyze our marketing and social media activities. With the help of these cookies, Timing.nl can offer relevant advertisements on Timing.nl, on third-party websites, and on social media. Check our cookie list to see which cookies are placed.
We place advertisements on websites outside of Timing.nl. To make these advertisements align as closely as possible with your interests, they are based on your online browsing and search behavior. We collect data from your visit to get an idea of possible interests. We can also use these cookies to keep track of which advertisements you have already seen, so you don't see the same banners repeatedly.
This cookie allows us to:
1. Analyze which advertisements you have already seen. This prevents you from seeing the same advertisements too often.
2. Analyze how many visitors click on our advertisements.
3. Analyze how many visitors take action on our website after clicking on an advertisement. This is necessary to measure the effectiveness of advertisements.
4. Keep track of whether you have already used certain services with us. You will then not see unnecessary advertisements.
Cookies for Social Media
Social media cookies are placed by the social media websites themselves. When you click on a 'share button' or social media button on Timing.nl, a social media cookie is placed. This allows the social media party to recognize your IP address when you want to share a blog or article from Timing.nl. For the cookies that the social media parties place and the data they collect with them, we refer to the statements that these parties provide on their own websites. We recommend that you regularly consult the following privacy and cookie statements:
1. Facebook
2. Instagram
3. LinkedIn
Other Cookies/Embedded Content
On Timing.nl, you can watch videos. These elements are displayed on the website but are stored with another party, such as YouTube. We do not always have insight into other cookies. If you encounter cookies other than those described in our current cookie list, please let us know.
Cookie List

How do I delete cookies?
Another way to opt out of cookies and similar technologies is through the settings of the browser or device you use to access our services. Internet browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge have settings that allow you to determine how your information is collected and shared. These browsers usually allow you to view all cookies stored on your device, clear your cookie cache, and adjust your preferences for future collection. If you do not give consent, cookies that were placed on your device based on your previous consent will not be automatically deleted.
The downside of using browser or device settings to withdraw your consent is that many of the cookies and similar technologies that are essential will be disabled. As a result, some or all of the features and functionalities we offer may no longer work. Therefore, we recommend following a more targeted approach for withdrawing your consent. For example, if you no longer want cookies and similar technologies to be used to offer you interest-based advertisements, you do not need to block all cookies, but you can also opt out via the cookie consent settings in Timing, as mentioned above.
Below you will find the link to the instructions per browser to delete cookies:
