You are invited for a job interview. That is fun and exciting at the same time. Don't worry, almost everyone gets nervous. By going well-prepared to your job interview, you hopefully also suffer a little less from those healthy nerves. We are happy to help you with that.
We have written down a number of points to support you in your job interview.
- Read about the company where you are going for an interview (internet);
- Write down questions you want answers to;
- Know your resume well;
- Practice the interview with a friend;
- Bring your diplomas and certificates in a folder (if you have them);
- Find out the departure time and the route to the company;
- Remember the name of the person you have an interview with;
What questions can you expect?
Every job interview is different. However, there are questions that often come up. Handy, because it gives you time to think about your answers. A list of common questions:
- Why do you want to apply for this position?
- Why should we hire you?
- What is the reason you are looking for other work?
- What do you know about our company?
- What are your good/bad qualities? What shows that?
- Why do you want to work at our company specifically?
- How would a friend describe you?
What clothes do you wear during your job interview?
The first impression you make is partly determined by the clothes you wear. You make an impressive impression by:
- Wearing clothes that are not too tight, loose, or revealing;
- Not wearing an overpowering scent;
- Dressing in a style that suits the organization (no denim and sneakers);
- Wearing clothes in which you feel comfortable;
- Wearing clean and ironed clothes;
- Paying attention to details like shoes, nails, and socks;
- Appearing fresh;
The moment suprĂȘme
Well prepared, you enter the company. You are completely ready. A number of tips to make your interview even more successful:
- Arrive well in advance, but no more than ten minutes early;
- Give a firm handshake;
- Maintain eye contact with the interviewer during the conversation;
- Adopt an active posture (not with your arms crossed);
- Avoid habits like biting nails;
- Think calmly before answering questions;
- Honestly indicate if you don't have a suitable answer or say that you will come back to it later;
- Show interest by asking questions in return;
- Do not say negative things about your previous employers;
- Speak calmly and neatly;
- Conclude with an active question like âWhat did you think of the interview?â
