Our Sustainable Development Goals

At Timing, we believe that work can make a difference. Not only for people, but also for society and the planet. That is why we actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): seventeen goals that guide us towards a sustainable and inclusive world by 2030.

Building a Sustainable Future Together

Every organization can contribute to sustainability in its own way, by eliminating negative impact or adding positive impact. But together, we can go further. That is why we link our efforts to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This global to-do list contains 17 concrete objectives aimed at creating a better and sustainable world for everyone. We align with these and use the SDGs as frameworks to shape our contributions to a better world. These are the four main SDGs that Timing contributes to (ranked by number, not by importance):

Our Focus Goals:

SDG 1: No Poverty

Staying employed is the key to combating poverty. To achieve job security, we do everything we can to increase the placements and duration of our temporary workers. Of course, we take into account how many hours someone wants/can work per week. The starting point should be that a full-time job provides a good basic income. We want every company to see this. Just like the realization that a beautiful career is possible for everyone, even without the right education and/or experience. Additionally, we offer help with debt issues and provide companies with tools to handle them.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

We want the Dutch to become aware of the value of practical work and the indispensability of temporary workers. So that operational work receives the appreciation it deserves, both literally and figuratively. The foundation is a safe working environment. Therefore, we continuously monitor (near) work accidents, unwanted behavior, and inclusion, and take actions to improve safety where necessary.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequality

We find it important that everyone feels included. In our view, everyone has the right to a job, regardless of age, gender, cultural background, who you love, and what you believe. If work is less self-evident, we commit to creating opportunities for those who experience a distance to the labor market.

We believe in an inclusive labor market, our PSO certificate (step 3) is a great proof of this. Through targeted programs, we help refugees, youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities find sustainable work. For this, we engage in social collaborations through, among others, TENT Nederland. Internally, we also build on diversity and equal opportunities, read more about it here.

SDG 13: Climate Action

We want to continue to play a meaningful role in the future. Helping each other move forward without the world falling behind.  We are not there yet. But we are taking steps in the right direction. For example, we measure our CO2 emissions with the goal of having lower CO2 emissions each year.

From electric driving to behavioral change in the workplace — we want to minimize our impact on the planet and limit our own ‘footprint’ as much as possible. Ultimately, we are working towards a climate-neutral organization. Sustainable thinking and doing is woven into our policy and our daily work. Read more about our achieved goals in 2024 here.

More Than Just Intentions

For us, the SDGs are not just nice words, but a practical guideline. Every day we look at how we can further improve — together with colleagues, clients, and our temporary workers.
