Are you sick? That's unfortunate 🤒
This is what you need to do now:
It is important that you contact Timing and the client where you are employed by phone.
- Always report sick at your work before the start of your shift
- Then call your contact person at Timing as soon as possible (no later than 10:00 in the morning).
PS: Are you not sick but unexpectedly unable to work? Then also contact Timing as soon as possible, so we can look for a suitable solution together.
Get well soon! But...what's next?
It's unfortunate if you're sick, but it's important to adhere to the following:
- Make sure you are reachable by phone;
- Do you want to go abroad? Then first contact your contact person at Timing;
- Click here for an overview of contact details of all Timing branches.
- If you receive a call from the company doctor, it is important to follow up on it;
- Cancelling the company doctor can only be done in writing in consultation with your absence contact person, with good reasons and no later than 48 hours in advance of the appointment with your contact person at Timing;
- Do you cancel too late for the company doctor or without a thorough reason? Then unfortunately the costs will still be charged to you;
More questions about these rules? You can find the full absence protocol in your employment contract.

Sick Leave from Abroad
For a sick leave from abroad, the same rules apply as for a sick leave in the Netherlands. Additionally, it is important that you report to a designated institution within three days. They can then issue a medical certificate for you. Are you staying in a country that does not have such an institution? Then it is important that you have a doctor in that country issue a statement about your incapacity for work. Make sure that this statement is written in English, French, or German. Additionally, it is important that it contains the following information:
- The nature of the illness;
- The cause of the illness;
- The prescribed therapy/treatment;
- A statement of medical unfitness to travel (if applicable).
Quitting Your Job
Do you want to stop working through Timing? We find that very unfortunate. Contact your contact person at Timing so we can see if we might have work for you with other clients.
Do you not want to work through Timing at all anymore? Then indicate this in a timely manner to your contact person. He or she can give you more information about your notice period. Don't forget to return any company items (such as a badge or work clothing, etc.) to your client or Timing within 5 working days.
Hopefully, we can help you get back to work through Timing soon.
Short Absence / Special Leave
As a temporary worker, you fall under the ABU collective labor agreement for Temporary Workers. This collective labor agreement describes your rights regarding short absence and special leave. You can find the collective labor agreement under 'General documents' via this link
