As a foreman or forewoman, you are the right hand of the team leader and you lead the team at times when the team leader is not present. What does a foreman or forewoman do?
The foreman or forewoman is responsible for leading the team on the work floor. Ultimately, the team leader will be the one with final responsibility and, for example, will also conduct performance reviews. As a foreman/forewoman, you don't have to do that; you ensure that your team is motivated to get to work and stays that way, and you lead them where necessary.
You work together with your colleagues and function as a link between them and the team leader. Often, the position of working foreman or forewoman is also a stepping stone to a team leader position. It is important that you stand firm, can maintain an overview and calm, and have a lot of patience.

How do you become a foreman or forewoman?
In most cases, work experience in the industry is required, and it is useful if you have previously led a team. If you haven't done that yet, you can often grow internally. For example, you start in a company as a production worker or order picker, and through your experience, you can further grow from there to, for example, foreman or forewoman and eventually to team leader.
What does a foreman or forewoman earn on average?
Usually, as a working foreman or forewoman, you earn about 2200 euros gross per month. It varies per company and per industry how much you will earn exactly. Your age and experience also play a role in the amount of your salary.
