Cleaning staff vacancies

Is your home always clean and tidy because you enjoy working with a cleaning cloth? Maybe you can make it your profession and become a cleaning staff member.

We often don't think about it, but we can't do without cleaning staff. They are needed everywhere. Schools, offices, in and around public transport. Through the hard work of cleaning staff, they ensure that our environment is pleasant to stay in.

What does a cleaning staff member do?

As a cleaning staff member, you often work for a cleaning company and are deployed at one or more locations where you will clean. Think, for example, of the cleaning company Asito. They deploy cleaning staff, among others via Timing, at the terminal at Schiphol, but also at various stations and office buildings.

Usually, you work independently within a team of other cleaners. For large locations, each colleague takes responsibility for a part of the space. In that case, you are jointly responsible. It may also be that you work independently in a small office, as the only cleaner.

Your tasks will include, among other things, emptying trash cans, picking up loose trash, but also vacuuming and mopping. It depends on the location what exactly you will do.

You must be able to work well independently, but also be able to handle some time pressure. You often have a maximum number of hours to clean, think for example of an office that opens at 9 o'clock or a plane that departs again at a certain time. All work must be done by then.

How do you become a cleaning employee?

As a cleaner, you don't need any specific education or experience, and you can usually start right away. The work of a cleaner is usually part-time and can be a good side job alongside studies or easily combined with your private life. You often work early in the morning or in the evening hours. Sometimes you can combine multiple assignments if you want to work more hours.

Depending on the location where you will work, a VOG (a certificate of good conduct) may need to be requested. Think, for example, of a police station or the terminals at Schiphol where they like to have proof of good conduct for every employee working there.

What does a cleaning employee earn on average?

As a cleaning employee, you can expect a salary of about 1900 euros gross per month when you work full-time. The number of hours per week, the location, and whether you already have experience play a role in the hourly wage.

What is the career perspective of a cleaning employee?

As a cleaning employee, you can work anywhere. In some cases, you can advance to become a foreman or forewoman of a team if that appeals to you, usually happening internally. Cleaning employees will always be needed everywhere, so you are always assured of work.
