  • As a residential counselor EMB in Groningen, you guide residents with moderate to very severe intellectual disabilities on a daily basis. You work 24 to 32 hours per week. Together with your colleagues, you provide a familiar daily structure, which offers peace and safety for the residents. You help them experience their day as pleasantly and independently as possible. Patience and empathy are important in this. You are a familiar face for the residents and really build a bond with them. You start your workday by reviewing the residents' appointments and special notes. Then you calmly make contact with the people you guide. You support them with daily care, eating, drinking, and other regular moments of the day. You pay close attention to small signals and changes in behavior and adjust your guidance where necessary. Structure and predictability are central. At the end of your shift, you pass on information to your colleagues to ensure the care remains personal and safe.
