You should not live to work, but work to live.
For Hans, it is not just a nice saying. It is how he organizes his life. And precisely the reason why he consciously chooses temporary work.
Hans is 58 years young, born and raised in Amsterdam and anything but someone who sits still. As a former top athlete, he is constantly on the move, and you can see that in everything he does. His weeks are filled with sports, training, and other activities that give him energy. As he himself says: “I am a former top athlete and still do a lot of sports.”
Always on the move
Sitting still does not suit Hans. Besides his work, he is actively engaged several times a week. His grandchildren also play an important role, as a proud babysitting grandpa, he is always there for them.
Hans laughs as he describes his week: “I am incredibly active. I give skating training and am on the road bike, mountain bike, or gravel bike several times a week. I just have a busy life.”
Work that moves with you
Precisely because his life is so full and active, he needs work that moves with it. And he finds that in temporary work. Six years ago, he actually ended up in it naturally. What started without a big plan quickly turned out to fit exactly who he is. He has never regretted that choice for a moment.
For Hans, the difference lies in the freedom that temporary work offers him. The ability to organize his life the way he wants. “What makes temporary work especially attractive to me is that I have a lot of time left for the fun things in life,” Hans says.
Time for what really matters
That flexibility sometimes lies in seemingly small things, but it makes a world of difference to him. Hans explains: “The advantage for me as a temporary worker is that I generally start very early. That also means that I am finished on time and can still go sports in daylight.”
Connecting on the work floor
Through Timing, Hans works in the food industry, where he is now a substitute team leader. A role that suits him well, precisely because he enjoys working with people and making connections.
On the work floor, it is not just about the work itself for him, but especially about the people. “What I especially enjoy is connecting the different nationalities around me.”
Not only the work itself but also the guidance plays an important role in his experience. Hans quickly felt at home and appreciated by Timing. “They show that they are satisfied and actively think along with you,” he says.
Back to his roots
What temporary work has ultimately brought him goes beyond just work. It has brought Hans closer to himself and to what he finds important. For him, it is a return to his roots: sports.
He notices the difference every day. In his energy, in his rhythm, and in how he feels. “I have started to do more sports again, am fitter, and just feel better.”
A conscious choice
For Hans, temporary work is not an interim phase. It is a conscious choice. A way of working that fits his life and who he is.
For him, it is clear: work should support your life, not the other way around.
