About CBS

The CBS, or the Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek, has been around for more than 120 years. At CBS, they work with about 2000 colleagues from their offices in Den Haag, Heerlen, and Bonaire. Social engagement is essential for CBS. They aim to provide facts for relevant target groups in society. Moreover, they do this with state-of-the-art techniques to collect statistics. They work on about 600 studies per year. This means they send out a statistic with a news report almost daily. These lead to about 50 thousand articles in newspapers and on news websites.

What will you do?

The legal task of CBS is to create statistics on a large number of social topics and to make the results public. For this, CBS collects data from individuals and companies. This collected data is processed into statistics. For collecting this data, CBS uses various methods. Individuals and companies are surveyed. This is done mainly digitally, but sometimes also in writing or personally. In recent decades, CBS has increasingly used existing registrations. Think, for example, of the population register, the files of the Chamber of Commerce, but also company registrations, such as cash register data from supermarkets for calculating price developments. And in all this work, they can really use your help!
